Sr. Shiroma returns to the U.S.

Sister Shiroma Kurumbalapitiya, SDS has arrived in Milwaukee to assist our Province with parish visits across the U.S. in behalf of our international missions. As she did back in 2012, Sr. Shiroma will share how our sisters in Sri Lanka minister to the worldly and spiritual needs of their local people. Her home province in Sri Lanka was established more than 50 years ago.

On her first visit to the U.S. in 2011, Sr. Shiroma completed an internship in New York City with UNANIMA, a non-governmental organization that advocates for human rights. UNANIMA members come from 17 congregations of Roman Catholic sisters worldwide. Sr. Shiroma brought back to her Sri Lankan Province what she learned through UNANIMA to advance social justice initiatives in her home land.

After her mission appeal ministry ends in August, Sr. Shiroma will stay on for a few more months of sabbatical opportunities. A highlight of this visit will be her 25th Jubilee celebration with the U.S. Salvatorian Family coming up on June 20.
