The Mass of Christian Burial for Sr. Elaine Czarnezki, SDS (Cor Mariae) will take place Friday, January 8 at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, 3800 N. 92nd Street in Milwaukee. Visitation will begin in the chapel at 12:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 1:15 p.m.

Sr. Elaine was drawn to the Salvatorian Sisters’ simplicity and worldwide mission. She ministered as a teacher, school principal, and as a chaplain in hospitals and nursing homes. Sr. Elaine served in Tanzania in East Africa where she founded a secondary school for girls, now run by the local people. Her passion for justice also led to social service ministry in Mississippi.     Those of us who knew or worked with Sr. Elaine love and remember her. I contacted several of them today after learning of her death. Sr. Elaine is in a precious place in our hearts. She was truly the healing presence of Christ to residents, patients, staff and volunteers who were graced by the gift of having met her.
