Sister Georgene Faust, SDS, began teaching at St. Paul School in Bloomer, Wis. in 1945, laying the foundation for lifelong ministry in education and school administration. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Marquette University, and credits a lifetime of “walking everywhere” for the youthful energy level that keeps her sharing her love for learning. Sr. Georgene works full time as an instructor at Rio Salado College in Phoenix, Ariz., preparing adults with special needs for GEDs and job training. She uses the word “miraculous” to describe how education can change attitudes and build self-esteem in her students. Sr. Georgene says, “Growth, be it mental, physical or spiritual, is definitely not restricted by age!” Sr. Georgene celebrated 70 years with the SDS congregation in 2013.
