When did I begin to forget picking up the colored leaves
And come to see raking leaves as a burden?
When did I see a new baby and think only
Of the expense of buying diapers?
When did snowflakes lose their beauty as I grew anxious
At a coming snow storm?
When did I overlook the privilege of a new car
And think only of the inconvenience of car repairs?
Help me, Lord, to not lose sight of your daily gifts to me
And the present moment to thank you.
Let me see you in the smallest gesture of the smallest day.
