10 ways to take a stand against human trafficking

- Learn the red flags of human trafficking. (https://humantraffickinghotline.org/what-human-trafficking/recognizing-signs)
- If you suspect human trafficking, report it. Don’t NOT call because you’re not sure. Call the National Human Trafficking Hotline: 888-373-7888 (24/7)
- Be a conscientious consumer. Ask your favorite retail stores to investigate slavery in their supply chains and share information for consumer awareness. Also check out List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor published by the U.S. Dept of Labor (https://www.dol.gov/ilab/reports/child-labor/list-of-goods/)
- Write your local, state and/or federal government representatives. Tell them you’re concerned about human trafficking. Ask what they’re doing to address this issue in their area.
- Distribute public awareness materials. Here are two sources:

- Donate to an anti-trafficking organization in your community.

- Learn how traffickers target school-aged children especially if you’re a parent, educator, or school administrator (https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osdfs/factsheet.pdf)
- Write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Start the conversation about human trafficking in your community.
